What exactly is an "Adult Pleaser?"

Hello my Sparkly Friends!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Saturday!  My Saturday was absolutely delightful!  We started the day by getting Kari-Lynn off to her Karate class, then Rob took her off to my parents' house to spend the day with my dad while he and I hung around the house with our toddler tornado.  In the evening, I had a girls' night with my mom, grandmother, and my daughter.  We had dinner and did a little shopping, it was a wonderful time!

In yesterday's post I talked about how my daughter is what I refer to as an "Adult Pleaser"  Today I wanted to tell you what I mean.

To me an "Adult Pleaser" is a child who is a "People Pleaser" that focuses on pleasing the adults around them without much focus on pleasing their peers.  A child like this can be so completely wonderful, and a source of great pride in parents.  It can be a double edged sword however, as it has a tendency to cause stress and anxiety in some children, and we as parents should take the extra steps needed to nurture your adult pleaser.

The reason I say that it can be a source of stress and anxiety is because Kids can feel under a ton of pressure while constantly trying to meet higher and higher expectations.  I do try not to hold Kari-Lynn to a high expectation, but I do falter from time to time.  It is important to celebrate your child for every achievement, but to not be too hard on them in moments of struggle.

I'm going to keep this short, because it's awfully late tonight and we have a great big day ahead of us tomorrow which I cannot wait to write about.

Until tomorrow,

Stay Sparkly!!

Welcome to a Sparkly Adventure!!

Welcome to A Sparkly Adventure!  My name is Amy, I'm a stay-at-home mother of two and a Nanny to one adorable little lady! The reason I have started this blog is to record my daily adventures in motherhood and to share my learning experiences and tips for surviving the rocky road of motherhood!

To Kick off our Sparkly Adventure, let me introduce you to my fellow adventurers!

First, my beautiful daughter, Kari-Lynn.  She is in the 3rd grade and just turned 9 on the 8th.  She is the sweetest kid you could ever wish to meet.  Kari-Lynn is what I like to refer to as an "Adult Pleaser"  I'll get more into that in a future post, but it's quite the trait for a child to have!

Second, my dashing and amazing little boy, Andrew.  He will be 2 on the 1st of May.  He is everything people told me that a toddler boy would be and more.  Andrew is too funny and keeps me on my toes each and every single day!

Third, I have my wonderful husband, Rob.  Rob works full time, goes to school full tim
e, and is an amazing husband and provider.  When I told him that it was my dream to be a stay at home mother, he did everything in his power to make that happen for me.  He is under massive stress, but still manages to be a supportive partner.

Lastly, and definitely not least, I have 5 month old Harlie.  I have been Harlie's nanny since her mother and my good friend, Carolyne, went back to work in September when Harlie was just 2 months old.  She is the happiest baby, she's relaxed and sleeps so peacefully.  Harlie just brings a little bit of sunshine into my life!

I am so excited to share the milestones, the stumbles along the way, and anything I may have learned over the course of my time in the role of "mom."

My intention is to make a post a day to make a record of what we did that day and to share a gem of wisdom.  I'm prepared for a few days when I'm going to miss a post, but I'm going to really make the effort to get at least a thought posted for the day.

Until tomorrow,  Stay Sparkly!
